This is a long hard watch which builds over the length of the film. The movie is beautifully shot and tells the story of a young Jewish boy in wartime Eastern Europe. Starring: Stellan Skarsgård, Harvey Keitel, Barry Pepper and others.
But they also need a film like The Painted Bird, a film that makes a mockery of star ratings. I can state without hesitation that this is a monumental piece of work and one I'm deeply glad to have seen. I can also say that I hope to never.
