Le ton du film serait donc l'introspection de Tarzan sur qui il est et surtout à quelle famille il appartient. En fait, le début du film est relativement proche du roman, du moins dans son ambiance. Ce n'est que dès que Tarzan rencontre les humains que le long-métrage s'éloigne fortement du livre.
